I can hardly believe the first year is over! An incredible amount of blessings were showered on the Gymnics this year. From the commitment from the administration to the passion of the team members, this year saw a renewed spark within the Gymnics program fueling plans for future growth.

The year ended with a fantastic homeshow. With the help of Larry Dolson, the team was able to raise the mats four feet off the ground on temporary staging, this added dimension really enhanced the atmosphere of the performance. In addition to the staging we utilized special effects lighting we purchased and loaned from CYE to highlight some of the stunting on the mats and create a more intimate setting. We incorporated a new skill set at AU with the introduction of the Russian Pole. We only started practicing this skill after Christmas but some real progress was made and established a great foundation of skills for us to build on next year. Mixing in group routines with lots of action and small group routines like the teeter board, and mini tramp, the homeshow was a great example of God given talents the Gymnics has been blessed with. You can see some of the pictures at our web site, http://www.andrews.edu/gymnics.
The Gymnics has big plans for the future. Next year will start off with intense tryouts for a new team in a continued effort to expand the size of the program and the quality of talent. Already in the works are plans for Acrofest 2007 - The Power of One. This national even with host as many as 1000 athletes and coaches and is a great opportunity of SDA teams to come together to worship, learn, and perform with each other. Keep checking back here at the the Gymnics web site for updates on Acrofest.

Gentle!
It's so wonderful to see that today's Gymnics are still doing the same foundational acro skills that this club was built on when so many other acro based teams have moved on the cheerleading type tricks - even sporting cheerleading outfits!! From a Gymnic alumnus.
Coach Lighthall,
As a past Gymnic, I love to see the renewed energy and commitment to Gymnics. Glad to hear that the administration is committed and that the focus of the team remains on Christ centered team building. Coach Lighthall I'm also very impressed with your commitment to honoring Gymnics history and Coach Kalua's lifelong commitment to Christ centered team building for SDA youth. I don't think that Coach Kalua has seen this site, but I know that nothing would please him more than to know that the team continues to honor God and use their talents to bring glory to Him.
It's also awesome that you've got the youth program going again for community kids of all ages.
It was awesome to see all the content from Acrofest 2007. I was honored to be on the team when Coach K pulled the first Acrofest together. It's great to see it come back to AU.
Good to see Darin Caviness and his troop from Ohio.
I look forward to more posts. Keep up the great work. Tell the team that their commitment and influence is wide spread....much wider than they imagine.
Keep up the good work.
